what is sonic:compression? well, it is a few things...

for one, it is a long abandoned/forgotten/misplaced brainstorm of support ideas regarding audio compression - originally modeled after an old site of mine, "[xmixahlx audio]". originally created to be an commentative companion to the fantastic hydrogenaudio forums (in winter of 2002 there existed no usable documentation/faq/wiki regarding audio compression).

...thus begins a fantastic collaboration of hydrogenaudio members to create a complete audio compression resource. technical, as well as informative and explanatory information is included from the collective thoughts of xmixahlx [xmixahlx audio], rjamorim [rarewares], and rc55, johnv, dibrom, and jans [hydrogenaudio]. as an html endeavor, this concept goes through various stages, and finds itself in a wiki... the hydrogenaudio wiki, which is being produced currently. this is offered as a snapshot of history.
